Since 1980, Penman Electrics has been providing electrical installation, repair and maintenance services for residential, commercial and industrial clients. 


The original owner was Greg Penman, who originally worked from his home in Tenambit before moving to the current premises at East Maitland.


Neil had worked for Greg for a period of almost twenty years before acquiring the business in 2008. Our Company is quite passionate about employing local people who know the area and are proud of the Maitland Community.

Owner and Director of Penman Electrics!


Neil did his Apprenticeship with Shortland County Council and was employed by the previous owner, Greg Penman in 1989.


Neil’s knowledge in the field is second to none and has been able to continue the good service that Greg Penman’s clients were accustomed to when he purchased the business in 2008!


Moving into our fourteenth year in business, there has been many a challenge, but overall, has been very rewarding to be able to help so many with their electrical projects.


In Neil’s spare time, he loves to watch his son’s play football and spending time with family and friends!
Lynne

Lynne

Administration Manager and wife of Neil


Prior to Neil purchasing the business in 2008, Lynne was a stay-at-home Mum with our three boys and prior to that a Legal Secretary with two local Law Firms.


I have enjoyed learning how to run our business and all the challenges along the way.  Proving to be a very busy role, there’s always something different to learn.


The people that you meet along the way and support that you receive is great!


Lynne loves to spend time with her family and friends and loves to cheer her son’s on playing football.

Assistant


Kim has been a part of our business since 2009! We employed Kim as a Trainee and she has grown so much and assists in the running of our business, often getting regarded as Lynne’s right and left arm!  Kim’s attention to detail and assisting with all aspects of running our business are fantastic and is always happy to assist wherever she can.


In Kim’s spare time, she loves spending time with her family, especially her nephews and has a beautiful Labrador named Jess!!
Kyle

Kyle

Senior Qualified Electrician


Kyle has been with our Company since 2014 and he has over that time gained great knowledge for our client’s and is happy to answer any questions and give you advice for your electrical projects.


Kyle has been a great employee over this time and often steps up into Neil’s role when he is on annual leave or unavailable.


Kyle is a family man and when he’s not busy working at Penman Electrics, enjoys spending time with his daughters and going to their activities.
Fearghas

Fearghas

Qualified Electrician


Fearghas started with our Business as an Apprentice in 2015 and has been able to learn from our Qualified Electricians and is now fully qualified himself.


Every day there is something different to do and in Fearghas’ spare time, he is a Volunteer Fire Fighter and also teaches junior members of the Rural Fire Service.


Fearghas is a local, born and bred in the Maitland area and enjoys going in his 4WD on weekends.
Andy

Andy

Qualified Electrician


We employed Andy in 2017 as an Apprentice.  He did very well learning from our Qualified Electricians and is now fully Qualified!


Andy, originally from Norwich in the UK travelled to Australia in his younger years and has been a part of our local community ever since.


Andy is always very helpful and full of ideas for any electrical projects.


In his spare time, Andy loves to play football and follows the American NFL.
Travis

Travis

Qualified Electrician


Travis is the eldest son of Neil and Lynne and has been a member of our team since 2017 as an Apprentice. He completed his Apprenticeship with us in December 2022 and is now fully qualified.


Travis is a friendly, happy go lucky person and we are so happy he chose the electrical field for his profession.


Travis enjoys playing football and going camping and is an NBA supporter following the Boston Celtics.
Austin

Austin

Apprentice


Austin is Neil and Lynne’s second son and joined our team in 2020 as an Apprentice Electrician.


He is learning new things every day and enjoys the variety of work that we get to do.


Austin is a friendly, caring person and we are also happy that he chose the electrical field for his profession.


Austin also enjoys playing football, surfing and camping.
Travis

Joshua

Apprentice


Joshua is our newest member of the Penman Electrics family.  We have employed Joshua after finishing his HSC last year and is an Apprentice.  


Welcome to the team Josh!  Josh is looking forward to learning the electrical trade and has noticed how ever day is so different with what we do.  


In his spare time, Josh likes to go driving with his mates and watch NBL on TV.
Jarrod

Jarrod


Jarrod is Neil & Lynne’s third son and even though Jarrod isn’t an actual team member, he is still a part of our Penman Electrics family and hope that he will be involved in the business in some way in the future.

Community

Here at Penman Electrics, our Maitland Community is very important to us! We like to do our bit to support our great little Community.


Friends of Palliative Care is one Charity that is close to our hearts, and we are avid supporters, sponsoring the annual Walkathon for the past five years.


We have also raised money for the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation, Cancer Council and supported Steve Waugh Foundation Captain’s Ride and Camp Quality 1000 Ks for Kids, just to name a few. Just recently, we were able to assist with a wish through the Starlight Foundation for a young boy in our area and provided the electrical for a new Spa, assisted by Haymans Electrical Maitland.

We also like to support our local sporting Clubs, Maitland Junior Football Club and Greta Branxton Football Club.


Our business is a Member of the Maitland Business Chamber to keep up to date with all the happenings in the Maitland and surrounding areas. We have met so many like-minded local small business owners.


It is also very important to us to support local businesses when purchasing materials and having works carried out, rather than purchasing online.
